Hard to believe it’s Labor Day weekend already. Time sure flies when you’re having fun at yard sales!

This weekend is a tad light on the sales, as are most holiday weekends. Still, there are bargains to be had and lots of Yorkers with goods to sell. And, several sales are today through Monday!

The weekend weather looks like it will cooperate, also.

Here are our best bets, as culled from The York Dispatch classifieds:

• A Big Family Yard Sale is at 1937 Hilton Ave. in Weigelstown today through Monday. This one’s got push mowers, lawn mower parts, weed eaters, golf clubs and fishing equipment.
• A “4 Families Moving Sale” is Friday and Saturday at 6055 Wildasin Road, Spring Grove. Four families are moving? Four? Maybe they’re just switching houses.
• A HUGE ANNUAL MULTI FAMILY sale is at 312 Pennsylvania Ave. Thursday through Monday from 8-5.
• A 4 Family Garage Sale at 10 Loucks Road in Manchester Township  today through Saturday has lots of goods for sale, and homemade bread and fudge!
• A huge sale is Friday and Saturday at 160 Sylvan Drive in Springettsbury Township, behind Pleasant Acres.

Looks like another great weekend for yard sales. It’s time to venture out to some yard sales before summer is over.

Here’s our top picks from The York Dispatch classifieds:

The Mt. Wolf borough is holding a community yard sale on Friday and Saturday starting at 8 a.m. both days.

If you are crazy about shoes, a yard sale on 3265 Taunton Drive in the Penn Oaks development in Springettsbury Township is the yard sale for you. They have shoes (new in boxes) in sizes 6.5 and 7 for sale. They will also have men’s and women’s clothes, handbags, fashion hats, household items and more. Most items are brand new with tags.

A multi-family sale at 4775 Bull Road in Dover is Saturday ONLY from 9 a.m. – 4 p.m. This sale will have antiques, ladies clothing, primitive items, lots of books, toys and Christmas items.

A sale at 2320 Redwood Road in West Manchester township will be selling inventory from a closed gift shop. The sale will be held on Friday and Saturday.

WEATHER FORECAST:

Sunny skies both days with a temperature of 85 degrees on Friday and 82 degrees on Saturday. Enjoy your weekend!

Get ready to fill your trunk with a weekend of yard sale fun in York.

Now is the time for yard salers to start the hunt for back-to-school items. We scour every sale for nice clothes, packets of pens, backpacks and unused notebooks. Now that you have the stress of back-to-school shopping off your back, you can have fun at this weekend’s yard sales. Here are our best bets:

SALES FOR THE GUYS

• 3143 Seaks Run in Glen Rock has a slew of guy friendly items: hunting, boating, camping and fishing equipment, a golf cart and even some Air Soft items.
• A Dover yard sale at 3231 Altavista Road has DVDs, CDs, a Nintendo Game Cube and, most interesting, some wrestling action figures

COMMUNITY SALES

• Red Lion’s Kendale East is holding a neighborhood sale Friday and Saturday. Plug in an address at Hope Drive, and your GPS will get you there.
• The Lakeview community in Spring Grove is ready for its sale this weekend. Look up Lakeview Drive to get you there.
• Ascombe Farms in Dover is another community sale this weekend. Head out to Fox Run Road for that one.

ALSO OF INTEREST

• A sale at 3631 Kingston Road in York promises “HUNDREDS” of childrens’ outfits and “TONS” of baby and kid items.
• A Mount Wolf sale at 198 South Seventh St. promises that it’s antiques and vintage items only, as the result of a dealer close out.
• Looking for the finishing touches to your new deck? A sale at 4080 Mulberry Road in Dover has some porch rockers.
• Or looking to add to your statue collection? A 218 Holly Drive sale in Mount Wolf has Cat’s Meow and Cook figurines for sale.

WEATHER FORECAST

The weather seems a bit iffy for Friday, with a chance of thunderstorms. Saturday looks more yard-sale friendly with partly cloudy skies. Both days will see temperatures in the mid 80s.

INTERESTING ITEMS

• A sale at 114 S. Rockburn St. off Eastern Blvd. has a sale on Friday and Saturday starting at 8 a.m. features medical equipment, Christmas items, furniture, quilts, area rugs and much more. Not sure about buying used medical equipment, but it might interesting.
• At the corner of Honey Valley and Sparton Rds. in Dallastown has a Singer sewing machine and an electric typewriter for sale. The sale runs Friday and Saturday from 8 a.m. – 4 p.m. each day. While people still use sewing machines, we wonder about typewriters. They do look nice on a desk though.
• First sale in 20 years! 1386 Druck Valley Rd. in East York. The sale will be held on Friday and Saturday from 8-2. Lots of treasures for everyone. Rain or shine. Note that they mention “first sale in 20 years.” this could be good.

SPORTSMAN’S YARD SALE

• There is a huge sportsman’s yard sale at the Manchester Fire Hall at 201 York Street in Manchester. This sale has a juke box that plays 45′s, hunting, fishing and trapping supplies, lots of fishing rods, guns and hunting clothes. The sale is on Saturday ONLY from 7-3.

COMMUNITY YARD SALES

• In Loganville, the annual Logan’s Reserve community yard sale will be held on Saturday from 8-2. 30 or more families are participating in the sale. Take Susquehanna Trail; turn onto Reynolds Mill Road at new Rutter’s and True Value. They issue a “no early birds” warning, by the way.
• Rain or shine neighborhood yard sale on Thornbridge, Northvue, Butternut Roads is holding a sale on Friday and Saturday from 8-4. Collectibles, furniture, Longaberger baskets, holiday decor, school and office supplies, car parts and baby, kids and adult clothes.

FORECAST

Friday is going to be mostly sunny with a high of 92 and Saturday will be cloudy with a high of 90.

Start your yard saling early before it gets too hot!

It’ll be a hot one for yard sales this weekend.  Friday looks to be 90 degrees and mostly sunny. Saturday some sun with a chance of isolated showers, and close to 90.  Not a bad forecast. After all, it is mid-summer.

Here’s our recommendations for the weekend’s shopping:

INTERESTING ITEMS

• A multi-family yard sale at 397 Wise Road in Delta offers girls English and Western show clothes. There also are boots. This one is today through Saturday from 8-5.
• If you’re looking forward to winter, check out the estate/garage sale at 1684 Camp Betty Washington Road Saturday from 9-2. These folks have a 5500-watt generator and a snowthrower, butcher and canning supplies and hunting accessories.
• Anyone out there still have a VCR? A yard sale at 2365 Manor Road in Shiloh has VHS movies. This one’s Saturday only from 8-4.

COMMUNITY SALES

• Wilshire Hills on the East End has its 10th annual yard sale, Round 2! the ad says. It’s Saturday only and starts at 8 a.m. More than 20 sales. GPS 4059 Wilshire Drive.
• The 7th annual flea market/yard sale at Winterstown Church at 12184 Winterstown Road is Friday and Saturday. More than 20 vendors.

OUR FAVES

Every year, we love this sale:  ENTIRE VILLAGE OF RINELY yard sale (in the Stewartstown area) is Saturday. Sales for 1 mile, the ad says. More than 100 families and food along the way. Rain or shine.

With the sweltering temps ready to break,  this should be a lovely weekend for a yard sale. Friday is supposed to be overcast with highs only in the lower 70s. Saturday gets  a tad warmer, in the low 80s.  Thunderstorms are possible both days, but the forecast still looks nicer than the last several weekends.

MULTI-FAMILY

• Pine Springs Community in Spring Grove holds a yard sale Friday and Saturday starting at 7 both days. This one boasts lots of everything, including plumbing, electrical, Fenton glass and military items.
• In Spry, a multi-family sale at Paula Drive and Old Colony Road Friday and Saturday has country CD’s, Jack LaLane juicer and 60s lights.
• The annual Yorklyn community sale is Friday and Saturday with more than 20 homes. “Come with an open mind and imagination to find that special item,” the ad says.
• A multi-family sale at 205 and 207 Kendale Road in Red Lion Friday and Saturday goes 8-5 both days. This one has a flat screen monitor.
• The Crestwood East neighborhood has a sale Thursday through Saturday with more than 17 houses involved. The ad warns DO NOT MISS OUT!

INTERESTING ITEMS

• A sale Friday and Saturday at 2875 York Haven Road has cast iron kettles, boat cover, case of Coke bottles and fishing rods.
• A HUGE moving sale at 27 Valley Road in Shrewsbury goes 9-5 both days and has household goods, shoes, patterns and fabric, camping potty and “much, much more including the house!”

INTERESTING AD

Support your veterans yard sale/bake sale is Friday and Saturday at the VFW at 333 Eberts Lane in Springettsbury Township. It’s a multi-family sale.  Kuhn Dog Chicken BBQ on Saturday starts at noon. Dog chicken?
