The rain, rain went away so we could yard sale on Saturday

Posted by on July 23, 2012 in Great Buys

Saturday shoppers probably really benefited from dire forecasts for last Friday. That may have kept the biggest shoppers at home, leaving more for the Saturday folks. Even Saturday didn’t look so hot. The day began with some sprinkles, and the skies were gray most of the day.

The Yard Sale Secrets team hit the streets anyway, and we were quite thrilled with what we picked up.

We picked up these three pieces of jewelry for $1 a piece. That means they’re nothing special value-wise, but they sure are cute!

These scrapbooking supplies came in a Ziplock bag for $5. We won’t use all of them, but there was a huge variety of stickers that made it a good buy.

This group of buys is all about the boys. We have the “Thing” version of Hulk Hands which cost $2. A book about sci-fi space ships goes well with a DVD of the new Star Trek movies. The pink things are a “rubbing craft” kit that lets little kids make greeting cards. The black item at the bottom is a similar “rubbing craft” but much cooler — it lets you create superheroes and monsters by switching heads, torsos and legs. Finally a big packet of permanent markers for even more craft and drawing fun.

These shirts, which include two sweaters and two button-ups, were less than $2 each.

Another odd lot features 2 CDs, one by the hopelessly sappy Dan Fogelberg and the other an album of covers by Poison. Also in the picture is a kids book and an Indiana Jones action figure. In 2008, that figure cost $9 retail … on Saturday he was 50 cents.

This big box of Goosebumps books was $12 for about 40 books. Our little Yard Sale Secret staff member just loves these, but that will probably be more Goosebump books than we’ll ever need.

We were giddy with excitement when we saw this chic Coach purse at the sale. It was marked at $20, but we got it for $15. Even if it turns out to be a counterfeit, it looks good.
