How to spend $9 in ten minutes

Posted by on July 2, 2012 in Great Buys

We had no time for yard sales this weekend. We were coming and going all weekend, and frankly we barely had time to breath.

But then we drove by one little loop of a development and saw a few yard sales spilling out some garage doors, and we gave in to the lure of the sale.

In ten minutes of shopping, we spent $9.

Our big purchase were these two candle globes. These things are positively huge, but have a unique look to them. Part Jupiter, part PokeBall, in fact. We weren't quite sure we wanted them until we picked them up. These aren't made out of wafer thin glass. Instead they're heavy and thick. They were stickered at $4, but we got them for $3 each.

This Fisher-Price drawing desk was $2. It was nearly complete despite its age. Inside there were magnets, chalk, magnetic stencils, regular stencils, an eraser and magnetic letters. We've already had lots of fun with it.

These two items cost us $1 total. One is a G.I. Joe H.I.S.S. tank from 1983. The other is a 15-inch Darth Vader from 1978. We bought them for investment purposes only. We'll let you know how well they do on eBay.
